PWHPA ANNOUNCES QUARTEXX SHOWCASE IN MONTREAL, QC AS FINAL SECRET® DREAM GAP TOUR STOP OF 2021-22

MONTREAL, QC – March 17, 2022 – The Professional Women’s Hockey Player Association (PWHPA) today announced Montreal as their fifth and final Secret® Dream Gap Tour stop of the 2021-22 season. Titled the Quartexx Showcase, the event will take place from April 2-3 at Centre 21.02, which has served as the training location of the PWHPA’s Montreal hub for the last two seasons.

“Quartexx is proud to support the efforts being made by the PWHPA to offer a sustainable professional women’s hockey league,” said Giordano Saputo, Chief Operating Officer at Quartexx Management. “As an agency that prospers on the male-dominated industry, we are pleased to have the opportunity to contribute towards narrowing the gender gap in hockey. Developing a truly inclusive environment for all in this great sport is something that Quartexx Management will always strive toward.”

The event will feature Team Harvey’s (Montreal), Team adidas (Minnesota), Team Bauer (Boston), and Team Scotiabank (Calgary). Weekend and day passes for the Quartexx Showcase are now available here, while individual tickets can be purchased here.

“Montreal is one of the best markets for women’s hockey in North America and we’re excited to finally make our way back to such a great city,” said Jayna Hefford, PWHPA Operations Consultant. “Danièle Sauvageau and her team at Centre. 21.02 have done a wonderful job with the PWHPA Montreal region and we’re looking forward to having an event at this world-class facility. We can’t wait to see fans from the region enjoy women’s hockey up close.”

Game one on April 2nd will feature Team Bauer and Team adidas, who have met in the last two showcase consolation finals. Game two will see two-time 2021-22 showcase champions Team Scotiabank face off against last month’s Sonnet Showcase champions Team Harvey’s. The winners of Saturday’s games will vie for the weekend prize-pot on Sunday, while the remaining two teams will meet in the consolation final.

“After almost two years of daily training, I’m thrilled that the Centre 21.02 will finally host such a great event,” said Danièle Sauvageau, Centre 21.02 CEO and Team Harvey’s Head Coach/GM. “It’s something the athletes — and fans— have wanted for a long time and we’re looking forward to this tremendous weekend.”

Quartexx — a global agency dedicated to helping professional athletes and their families — will provide financial assistance for the showcase.

The Quartexx Showcase is the first time the PWHPA has returned to Montreal for an official event since February 2020.
